They/Them
Claire Robinson-Scalzi
LCMHC-A
Throughout my life, I have sought varied perspectives to understand people and experiences from many angles. This has led me to try many different things in life and has informed the nuanced, compassionate approach that I bring into my work as a counselor. My perspective is also shaped by my identities — some of which are: genderfluid, demisexual, white, and highly sensitive. I have also only ever lived in the South. I draw upon my lived experience and seek out trainings to fill in any gaps. I am always learning! So, if I am new to something you've experienced, I will research it to better support you without you having to educate me about the basics.
MY APPROACH TO THERAPY
The world is intense right now, isn't it? You might be feeling overwhelmed, worried, stuck, angry, sad, anxious, or any number of feelings. Or maybe you just feel numb or not sure what you're feeling anymore. That's okay. All of you is welcome here. I'm here to support you, however you are, as we explore your world to find how you can live more centered and authentically, despite the trauma you've experienced, the systems we live in, and the patterns you were raised within. I hold space for you to share openly about whatever is on your heart and mind, helping you hold the pain you are moving through. No struggle should be faced alone. We will weave between your past and present, building capacity so that you can release what drags you down and live more fully in the present as your unique and vibrant self. I provide individual counseling for adults of all ages (18+) and some gender expansive teens. I support people who have experienced trauma and/or are a part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, which means I often work with people who are neurodivergent and/or experience dissociation as well. I celebrate all queer, trans, gender expansive, and neurodivergent identities, and I am poly/ethical non-monogamy affirming and anti-racist. I begin with person-centered therapy to understand the world from your perspective. Then, I add in EMDR therapy (to help you move through trauma or shift stuck negative beliefs about yourself), parts work, somatic (body-based) exploration, a systems perspective, an attachment lens, and/or grounding practices, depending on your unique needs and preferences. I collaborate with you to create the space you need.
