He/Him

Joe Acevedo

LCSW, LCAS

Therapy was not my first career. I am a veteran with a passion for working with other veterans and their families. I am passionate about learning my craft and am constantly working to hone my skills in a variety of effective, evidence-based treatments. While I am currently working toward independent licensure, don't let that fool you — I had over a decade of experience working with people in the mental health field before realizing that I wanted to go back and expand my skills with a master's in social work. I have a wide variety of experience, from working with teenagers at Job Corps to working with veterans who have struggled with being unhoused.

MY APPROACH TO THERAPY

Therapy can be tricky, especially opening up about your challenges to someone you don't know very well. I work hard to create a warm and open environment to allow for true rapport to be built. While I will absolutely be kind, I will also always be honest in our work together. Together we will explore what areas of growth you want to make and create achievable goals so you can see the difference in your life. Teenagers and professionals who are struggling to find their path in life without being overwhelmed often report feeling connected to working with me. I also work well with veterans and couples of military leaning.

FUN FACTS

I'm a Florida native. I'm on my third career. I still work for the Veterans Hospital full time.
